Over $140,000 in scholarships and awards to college bound High School seniors.

Over $104,000 in prize money to fishermen

Entries by year: 26, 46, 64, 70, 72, 74,52,37,56, 55

Releases by year: 1, 21, 55, 25, 18, 5,21,17,7, 20

Winning Releases by year: 1, 3, 5, 5, 3, 1,6,5,2, 5

Since Skates (Cow Nosed Ray) are present at the same time as Tarpon and take the same bait, we award a trophy the captain who is lucky enough to catch the most of these "pancake" tarpons". The daily record is now 79.

Tournament within the Tournament

Each TWT is a separate contest
Prize money is based on the number of entrants
All prizes will be awarded
TWT prizes are not Tournament prizes
Entrants must be entered in the Tournament
Prizes are awarded based on Tournament catches

If enough fish are not caught to award all prizes for a TWT, the unclaimed prizes will be pooled, divided by the number of unclaimed prizes and that number of equal prizes will be awarded by a drawing from those entrants of that TWT who did not catch fish.

Championship TWT

Open to any entrant
Entry fee $150. (50 boats = $7500)
Prize payout: 1st place 50%, 2nd place 30%, 3rd place 10%, retained 10%

Sportsman TWT

Open only to boats where no one on the boat has previously caught a fish in the Oriental Tarpon Tournament
Entry fee $100
Prize payout: 1st place 40%, 2nd place 25%, 3rd place 15%, 4th place 10%, retained 10%

"Early bird" Drawing

$250 prize to boat drawn from entries received before 5:00 PM June 28, 2003

"No Joy" Drawing

Merchandise prize winners drawn from boats who don't win any other Tournament prize
