Oriental Boating Singles

Dear Oriental Boating Singles,
The boat ride over to Carrot Island to hike among the ponies and Kayaking around Oriental was tremendously enjoyed.  The time and talents shared by our members, have added special moments!  Our gratitude and appreciation to each of you, who have made these outings possible and successful.
This next event has it all, thanks to Linda Randolph and several other friends!  They have planned a wonderful camping trip.  Listed below are the details.  Please send a "RSVP" to Linda, so that we can know how many are coming.  We look forward to seeing you on October 5, 2002.
 Deborah Lynne Drinnon

A group of us decided on Sat., Oct. 5 for the camping/kayaking outing. I had originally rented the group tenting area, but it is not on the water and there isn't much there. Consequently we/I decided that it would be easier for each member to be responsible for renting his/her own site. They rent for $12 per night  on a first come basis, have water and a clean restroom available nearby. More than one tent can be put on a site so we can double up. The gates open at 8:00 a.m. and are locked at 8:00 p.m. Each person might want to bring enough food for himself and one other person. I imagine that we will end up sharing meals.

Tent sites cannot be rented in advance.

For those people who want to kayak we can put kayaks in the water from the camping area or go to Dinah's Landing which is where Jane, Cal and I put in. The area is beautiful with walking trails including a trail over a marsh area.

There are several ways to get to Goose Creek. Members can take US 264 East from Washington for 10 miles. Turn right onto Camp Leach Road and go 2.5 miles to the park entrance. I plan on kayaking Saturday around 10:00 am  for two or three hours and then seeing how the rest of the day goes. The other way is to take the Aurora ferry, turn west or left on Highway 92 immediately after getting off the ferry, go through Bath to Camp Leach Road. This is approx. 14 miles, but the park is well-marked.
Please tell members that they do not have to kayak to go on this campout. Sometimes it is just nice to camp, fish, hike or just sit and do nothing!

Pets are permitted as long as they are on a 6 ft. leash. No firearms or alcohol are permitted.

Would you send this notice to our members? If anyone has any questions, they can contact me at my email address.

Thanks,
Linda R.
