MYFIRST BAND

(SOME OF THE BEST BANDS YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF)
circa 1965-70

An exciting book by authors and musicians Keith Buckley and Dan Angott about the 60's garage band scene. Now your band's story can be told; after 30 years baby boomers and aging hippies finally get a chance to get that big break that eluded them all those years ago.

The coolest garage rock bands!

Did you have a garage band back in the 60's between 1965 and 1970? With the advent of the British invasion, it seemed like there was a rock and roll band on every block in those days. Tons of kids were buying guitars, amps, and drum kits, loading up old beat up vans or their parents station wagons and heading out to local parties, teen clubs and dances all across America. They were crankin' up their amplifiers and those Fender and Gibson guitars seeking fame and fortune. They were playing songs by groups like the Beatles, Animals, Byrds, Rolling Stones, Electric Prunes and of course, the whole psychedelic thing. Musician/Authors Keith Buckley and Dan Angott are looking for those kids, all grown up now and possibly enduring their own kid's band practice sessions in the basement, to contribute to their web site/book project:

My First Band: Some of the Best Bands You Never Heard Of

While hanging out one evening playing guitars and old folk rock songs from the 60's, Dan and Keith were talking about their old garage band Clear Blue Sky, and wondering about all the other rock bands from their neighborhood in northwest Detroit back in the mid to late psychedelic 60's. What ever happened to all those rock and roll wannabe's? Who's still playing music, how many hung it up after high school or college? What are these baby boomer musicians up to now?

One thing led to another and they decided to put together a web site to reach out to all those garage band members not only from Detroit, but all across America who like them, never made it much past the state line. Other plans include a book based on the material collected at this site.

60's British Invasion or Psychedelic?

If you have any old photos of your first band, and some interesting stories to tell, just click below on the button your first band, fill out the easy information form, and fame is yours for the asking. Let us know what kind of guitars, drums and amplifiers you used, what was the name of your group, what songs did you play, were you influenced by psychedelic bands or the British invasion music? Remember, this is for amateur psychedelic/garage bands and groups from the 60's, who, if given a choice, would pick a new guitar over a new car any day!
