Summer Camps Work with NC State and Pamlico County Health Department Testing Water Quality of Neuse River

Summer camp is supposed to be fun and offer learning experiences that last a lifetime. Campers and their parents in Pamlico County can rest assured that the summer camps, Pamlico County health officials and researchers from North Carolina State University are working together to make campers summer experience in Pamlico County worry free. These three groups have developed a water testing program that samples the water of the Neuse River. Tests include bacteria testing from the North Carolina Shellfish Sanitation Section for Fecal Coliform, Enterococcus and for the presence of the dinoflagellate Pfiesteria.
