Boats + Art = Oriental

Oriental has become rather well known in sailing circles as the "Sailing Capital of the Carolinas". But boating is far from the only outstanding feature of this quaint riverside village. Pamlico County in general and Oriental in particular have become quite a Mecca for artists. This year you and your family are invited to discover this wealth of artistic expression by joining us for the Oriental Art Express being held April 24-25, 1999.

Oriental Art Express is a village wide festival showcasing the work of more than 50 Pamlico County artists. The types of work on display include pottery, sculpture, photography, jewelry, glass, textiles, painting and drawing. There will be 18 venues scattered throughout the village each within walking distance of the others. Bring your family and stroll through our picturesque downtown, enjoy the harbor and immerse yourself in artistic expression! Throughout the day there will be live entertainment at the Pamlico Civic and Cultural Center, demonstrations at various venues, and activities for the kids. Stop by the Old Theater (Pamlico Civic and Cultural Center) for a list of show times. Pick up your map at either the Circle Ten Gallery or the Town Hall. All three are on Broad St. in Oriental. Pick up a ballot to vote for your favorite work of art and enter the drawing for prizes. It'll be lots of fun and best of all its FREE!

The hours are 10-5 on Saturday, April 24 and 12-5 on Sunday, April 25.
