| PAMLICO PAINTERS PRESENT August '99 |
The watercolors and oils of Charles
Meadows Hines, Jr. will be the Pamlico Painters August attraction at the Trawl Door
Restaurant in Oriental.
Charles, a native of eastern North Carolina, returned to the area last year and opened a studio and gallery above Captain Rattys on Middle street in New Bern.
He is presently involved in a very exciting project: the renovation of the first floor of the "1792" Isaac Taylor house at 228 Craven St. as his studio and gallery. This interesting building is one of the oldest brick homes in New Bern. He anticipates opening late this summer.
A charter member of the Florida Watercolor society; his art background includes studying in Amsterdam and Paris and under art scholarships with William Grant Sherry and Russell R. Robinson. He has also taught at the Florida Gulf Coast Art Center and the Dunedin Fine Arts and Cultural Center.
Apart from his art he is a licensed Ocean Master and spent ten years as a skipper in the Bahamas and Caribbean in the charter sailing business.
The art of Donna Lewis and Ashton Whipple will also be on display.
A "gathering" at the TRAWL DOOR AT 5:30 on Wednesday, August 18th will open the exhibit which runs through September 19th.
Enjoy the wine and munchies, compliments of the Trawl Door, chat with the artists and view their work.
